One tool, fully disclosed.

This website runs a single analytics tool so we can see how people use it. No cookies, no ads, no cross-site tracking, and nothing sold. The rest of this page says exactly what is collected, in enough detail that you can check it yourself.

What this policy covers

This policy describes how the RideAlong website at joinridealong.com handles information about the people who visit it. It is a marketing website: a few static pages, a demo video, and an email address.

It does not describe how the RideAlong product handles customer data. The product is a separate system covered by a separate agreement, and if you become a customer or design partner you will receive those terms directly before any data is processed.

What we collect on this site

We use PostHog, an analytics service, to understand how visitors use this site. It collects:

PostHog stores one randomly generated identifier in your browser's localStorage so the pages of a visit hang together. It is not a cookie, it identifies a browser rather than a person, and we make no attempt to connect it to a name or an email address. This site has no login, no account system, and no forms that submit data to us — there is nothing to type here, so replays contain no typed text.

That analytics data is processed and stored for us by PostHog Inc. on servers in the United States. PostHog acts as our processor and does not use the data for its own purposes; its handling is governed by PostHog's privacy policy.

One other piece of local state: when you dismiss the small RideAlong prompt that appears on the home page, the site records that dismissal in your browser's session storage so it does not reappear as you keep reading. It is a single yes/no value, it never leaves your device, and your browser discards it when you close the tab.

What happens automatically

Two things occur as a technical consequence of the site being on the internet, and we would rather name them than pretend they do not exist.

Our hosting provider

Loading any web page requires your device to connect to a server. Our hosting provider processes the standard connection information involved in that request — including your IP address, the page requested, and your browser's user agent string — in order to serve the page and to protect the service from abuse. This is ordinary server operation and we do not use that data to build any profile of you.

Google Fonts

This site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com when a page loads. Google receives your IP address as part of that request. We do not send Google anything else, and we receive nothing back about you. Google's handling of that request is governed by Google's privacy policy.

If you email us

The only way to give us personal information through this site is to email hello@joinridealong.com. If you do, we keep your message and your address so we can reply and continue the conversation. We use it for that and nothing else. We do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not sell, rent, or share it.

Ask us to delete your correspondence at any time and we will.

The demo video

The demo video on the home page is served directly from our own site rather than embedded from YouTube, Vimeo, or a similar service. That is deliberate: it means watching it does not hand your viewing behaviour to a third-party video platform.

Your rights

Privacy laws in a number of places — including the GDPR in Europe and the UK, and the CCPA in California — give you rights to access, correct, or delete personal information an organisation holds about you, and to object to its processing.

Because the analytics identifier is random and never tied to a name or email, we usually cannot connect analytics data to you specifically — it is anonymous to us, which also means an access request often has nothing to attach to. Email correspondence, if you have written to us, we can always retrieve, correct, or delete. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@joinridealong.com and we will respond within 30 days.

If you would rather not be counted at all, browser tracking blockers stop PostHog entirely, and we will not try to get around them.

Children

RideAlong is software sold to businesses. This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

Changes to this policy

If we add anything to this site that changes what is collected — analytics, a contact form, anything at all — we will update this page and move the effective date at the top before that change goes live, not after.
